If you are going to another country, then you should bring something that represents your country.
A little gift or some food speciality( like olives or cheese) or a good bottle of wine or some candy. It doesnt really matter what you bring as long as it comes from your heart.

My Ex (who is Croatian) would bring lots of products from Podravka (she worked for them)! but I guess Podravka related stuff isn't a typical souvenir .

Typical authentic Croatians gifts that you will hardly ever find anywhere else include:

  • Lavender from the island of Hvar (some of the best in the world),
  • Cheese from Pag (Paški sir),
  • Lace from Pag (Paška čipka),
  • Handmade silk ties (kravata) invented by Croats and first worn by Croatian mercenaries during the Thirty Years War.

I also recommend buring CD's featuring Croatian music because they are next to impossible to find outside of Croatia. They really are worth listening to if you want a true taste of Croatia when you go back home.
