Collecting Things.

I came to my present hobby the long way around. Initially I thought I wanted to collect books, which is an excellent hobby as it is, but really more than overwhelming when you consider that the collector should really read all those books too. Then I tried collecting records, well, singles. This was just before the CD began to be produced, and was domed to an early death as a result.

Now I believe I've found a collecting hobby which really interests me, has a good chance of lasting practically forever, and doesn't cost all that much to follow: photography.

Now, I don't mean taking photographs so much, although I do that too, but collecting antique and older photographs from around the world. It is a fascinating hobby, and one which you can carry out at almost any fleamarket anywhere for very little cash.

Does anyone have similar interests or hobbies?

I don't know if you can call traveling a hobby, but I consider it as one. Another great hobby of mine is collecting music. I have over 11.500 songs. I tag them and add the album covers. I don't know why, it's just an addiction. And I like reading and collecting books about politics and it's history.

Certainly I would call travelling a hobby, and a marvellous one it is too. I've managed to travel to many countries over the last couple of decades - from Cyprus, to Saudi Arabia, to Belize and all of Europe - and treasure my collected memories of each country.

I'm a keen photographer who like to combine this passion with indpendent, 'off the beaten track' type of travelling. I also collect postcards and stamps. Smile

Haha, off the track.. there are some places worth visiting for photography ..

The only thing I collect is stamps. For now it are those from Germany alone, but when I am done with it I may find another interesting country to collect stamps from.

Do you think it will ever be possible to have collected ALL the stamps from Germany? It's rather like my collecting of old photographs, there are so many that collecting seems to be absolutely endless.

my collections change as I change. Currently I am collecting old, handmade baskets. This is one of my newer hobbies. I like the ones that have an aura about them, nothing that was mass produced and look like all the others. I also collect strange looking dolls, I actually only have 2 currently, as I have trouble finding them unique enough for my liking. I collect antique postcards from the areas I have lived and shot glasses of the places I have visited.

If anything I would love to get more involved in stones, the precious ones. As for now, I collect boarding passes.

Well currently I am collection the different types of coins. I change my collection as I change. Collection is my hobby. I have many types of coins with different images as well as with different sizes. I have most probably two thousand coins with me with different images and sizes. I have also collected the post card's tickets before it.
